Six miles.. but does it count?

It's my longest run of the year so far, and it was hot and muggy today. But here's how my brain works. Because it took me an hour and 35 minutes, a speed most people could probably walk that distance, because I walked as much as I ran on the second half (the uphill direction of the rail trail) it doesn't feel real. On the other hand I better start believing it because next Saturday I have to do 7! (Then I get to cut back to 4 or 5 the week after.)

YES IT COUNTS
I agree with you about that book - so much dross, so many gold nuggets. I used it for my last half and felt really well prepared (although I only run 3x week. I always substituted cycling and swimming for the 4th run).

It definately counts. Did you not start out at one point and arrive back (or at another) after moving your body for 6miles? Yes you did. So there. ;)

Counts for what? You kept your heart-rate up and was on your feet for 6 miles. I walk about half of most of my marathons. But also, no, most people can't don't walk that fast. Most people walk between 18 and 20 minutes/mile.

"Most" people aren't out there in the heat and humidity following a healthy training plan - YOU are. It counts. I understand those voices that would have you discount your own effort - I hope reading your comments helps you talk back to that voice! Good luck this week.
